RE: 1994 Bounder No Coach or Gen power...

There are two solenoids under the hood,in the engine compartment. Drivers side, silver in color. Those solenoids were notorious for failing. The switches by the door control them. If you are handy, you can actually de-crimp the top of the solenoids, and turn the copper disc over, re-crimp and reuse. Good if you can't find new solenoids. I don't recall exactly what they control, house and chassis but, they are more than likely the culprit. Sometimes I could flip those switches back and forth several times and get them to make contact--that was a signal to replace them, they were getting ready to fail. Do a search for Bounders of America---more Bounder info than you'll ever need-hopefully.

RE: Is Workhorse Custom Chassis Losing Luster?

Believe me Workhorse brake problems are still continuing. My pedal went to the floor and thank my lucky stars, I didn't hit anthing. Coach was picked up this AM by tow truck. Workhorse is destroying their reputation! Just Google, Workhorse brake problems

RE: carlsbad caverns

Brantley S.P.was great. Carlsbad RV was just the usual old RV park. Served the purpose, did not use any of the facilities, other than E/W/S. Be sure to go to Sitting Bull Falls, take your swim suit. That is,if it's hot enough.

RE: Leaky waste valves... Replace just the valve?

I also have those cable operated valves. Replacement with a new manifold from Valterra was easy . The original valves are still in place, in the open position. 2002 HR Admiral

RE: Boston

You might be able to use this, although there doesn't appear to be any sewer. http://www.salemweb.com/winterisland/?f=3

RE: Slide won't retract, even by manual crank:

The shear pin may be called a "Woodruff key",looks like a half-moon. Found one at Auto-Zone and later at Lowes, for my HR product. Good Luck

RE: Leaking Black water slide valve holiday Rambler

Same problem on my 2002 Admiral. It appears that is a common fault with cable actuated valves. So anyhow, I bought a new manifold ,Valterra, I believe, with the gray and black valve, in place. Bought a few elbows and some 1 1/2 inch plastic pipe at Lowes and installed the new manifold in the compartment, behind the panel that holds the old handles. Now the old handles are held open and the new, gray and black valves, are used to dump. Works great!!! Monaco gets a big "thumbs down" for burying those valves so far into the body.

RE: picking a toad

We tow an HHR and are very pleased with our selection. A couple of suggestions to other HHR owners. 1.Take a look at the "jumpstarting" procedure,so you can do it from the front of the vehicle. Dead battery scenario, battery is in rear of vehicle. 2.Try that stinkin manual release set-up that GM suggests for the rear trunk,in case of dead battery. We found it very difficult to find the release lever.

RE: Working for Cradle of the Forestry

We worked ,volunteered, at Lake Powhatan, near Asheville NC, last year and found it enjoyable. Friendly Forest Service employees and very accomodating management at the park itself. Probably varies from park to park.

RE: Scratching post-furniture

Well, we've done everything but the Feliway stuff--guess we'll try that. Hard to get too aggravated---they bring so much love and joy to the scene. Amazing how age mellows one.

RE: Slide topper extends on heavy crosswind.

Papy---Before you get too involved, how about checking the tension on the awning spring. Sounds like you could use a couple of turns on the spring. On Carefree awnings---the spring is tightened by the right arm, as you face the awning.

RE: Occoneechee State Park - VA

Have to agree with Pattie. We travel with two, cats that never touch the ground and the per pet/per night PLUS TAX fee was ridiculous. We refused the charge and they relented. Other than that--the park was greatly improved over the 1972 version, although we had a great time there, at that time, without water and electric..

Scratching post-furniture

Two wonderful cats, with all their claws, one likes to use the furniture as her personal scratching post. We've tried the double face tape and the sprays, that are supposed to repel cats, to no avail. They have plenty of posts available to them, and our other cat "Pepper" uses them always, while "Meg" seems to prefer furniture. Any suggestions? Thank You

RE: Milwaukee levelers

On my '95 Bounder the reservoir was in the passenger frt. wheel well. Southwind probably was the same. Sounds like you need to add fluid to the reservoir. I believe you can disconect the wires to the float level switch,on the side of the reservoir, temporarily, to stop the warning noise. Just be sure the jacks are up.

RE: waste valve

Ken---I bought mine up around Asheville NC somewheres last summer but this will give you an idea of the manifold. I'm sure you could order it online or maybe find it locally. http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-toilets-tanks/20097.htm

RE: Question; Average time spent at a dump station

I've been doing this RV thing for awhile and am always amused at this obsession with cleaning "tanks". Makes for interesting comments from the "believers" and "non-believers".
